"Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell"

Finally after nearly 3 weeks of reading at dinner times only I have finished a book that I enjoyed very much. Even better the book which comes in at 1006 pages only cost me 3.73 as Tesco were doing one of there top ten book offers.

Book
The name of the book is "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell" written by Susanna Clarke the first thing that got me is that this book is her first novel, and wow what a novel, I have to admit here and now that when I first saw the book in hard back I was not too sure if it was my kind of book. But I am glad that I did decided to invest 3.73 as it's money well spent I had nearly 3 weeks of great entertainment what more could you ask. As an author she now has the task of proving to everyone that she is not a one book wonder, I hope she is not as I want to know what happens next, in fact I have the feeling that she does as well.

Film, Radio?
This is a book that I think could be adapted to radio as a series and it would work real well, it would need some good casting and a director who can get his or her head around the whole of the story. As a film I suspect that a lot of the depth and richness that make the book so good would be lost which is a pity, but I think that is due to the medium of film and the fact that a book is always much richer and deeper in depth than a film can ever be.

Book Two?
I have tried to find out if she has started or nearly finished book two but so far the answers have been unanswered, which is sad, so I have allowed myself and told myself that if she does get a new book out in 2006 it will be late 2006 or early 2007 before I will get chance to read it, perhaps by then something in another medium will have turned up who knows, lets hope so.
