The other day after some 5 to 6 days here in the UK I got the chance to see the sky with a blue colour. Now I know that this is not an unusual occurrence in some other countries, but here in the UK the sight of a sky that is mainly blue is something to be celebrated. We Brits do a very good line in grey skies, in fact grey skies are I think what we do best.
I mean for over 50 percent of the year us Brits have to put up with various types of grey skies. Sometimes for just a little bit of variety with have some white cloud but some how we just don't know what to do with it and it tends to get placed here or there, mainly anywhere that seems right.
Sometimes you wonder how people in other parts of the world manage to cope with all that blue sky. I mean it don't seem natural from where I am sitting; I'm sure that the normal state of affairs is that the sky is grey with the odd bit of white sky thrown in for good measure.
I must admit that I have been to places where the skies are blue most of the time; the first few days are rather nice as it’s a nice change, but over time you start to get an uncomfortable feeling that some thing is just not right. And it gets worse as you just can't seem to nail down what it is that it is that is getting to you. It’s only much later when coincidently you are back under grey skies that you realise that it was all that blue sky that was getting to you in some way or other.
Maybe being brought up in the UK makes you sensitive to what the skies above you head are doing, maybe being British is being able to live in the gloom of grey skies for over fifty percent of your time.
I can present to you an observation of mine that famous people who have lots of money move from the UK to places that have lower tax and blue skies, I not sure which one comes first, but tax might be the main reason. any way if these people where in the art e.g. pop stars it seems to me that with in the year they just don't seem to produce the same kind of work and the same quality of work anymore. And that pretty soon they end up either moving back to the UK or having holidays back in the UK, can you image that!
