Audio Movies

 What makes an audio movie?

An audio movie is a story told via sound, using all the audio resources that go into the soundtrack of a typical movie. It is different from a silent film or a film with dialogue because it relies on sound effects, music and voice acting to create a rich and immersive experience for the listeners.

Some of the elements that make an audio movie are:

  • Sound design: This is the process of recording, acquiring, manipulating or generating audio elements that match the tone, mood and action of the story. Sound design can help to create realistic and engaging soundscapes that transport the listeners to different places and times. For example, in EarFLIX’s action thriller The Hunted, sound design is used to create suspense and tension by using sounds like gunshots, explosions, footsteps and breathing.
  • Music: This is one of the most well-recognized parts of a sound mix in a movie. It helps to convey emotion, set the pace, create tension and enhance the atmosphere of the scenes. Music can also help to establish themes, motifs and character development. For example, in Mixkit’s horror movie The Haunting Of Hill House, music is used to create fear and dread by using sounds like dissonant chords, low notes and sudden crescendos.
  • Voice acting: This is the performance of voice actors who portray different characters in the story. They use their vocal skills to express personality, emotion and intention through dialogue and narration. Voice acting can help to bring life and depth to the characters and make them more relatable and memorable. For example, in MP3 Movies’ comedy movie The Hangover Part II , voice acting is used to create humor and fun by using sounds like accents , sarcasm and laughter.
