Green Fields of England
Verse 1:
I’ve been around the world and seen a lot of places
But nothing compares to the green fields of England
Where the sun shines bright and the birds sing sweet
And the air is fresh and clean
Chorus:
Oh, the green fields of England
How I love to see them in the summer
When the flowers bloom and the grass is green
And the sky is blue and clear
Oh, the green fields of England
How I long to be there in the summer
With my guitar in my hand and my love by my side
And nothing else to fear
Verse 2:
I’ve played a lot of songs and met a lot of people
But nothing touches me like the green fields of England
Where the music flows and the stories are told
And the history is alive
Chorus:
Oh, the green fields of England
How I love to hear them in the summer
When the melodies ring and the words are true
And the spirit is high and free
Oh, the green fields of England
How I long to share them in the summer
With my friends and my fans and my family too
And everyone who loves me
Bridge:
Some may say I’m a dreamer or a wanderer
But I know where I belong and where I want to be
It’s in the green fields of England
Where I feel at home and where I’m happy
Chorus:
Oh, the green fields of England
How I love to feel them in the summer
When the breeze is soft and the warmth is gentle
And the peace is deep and real
Oh, the green fields of England
How I long to return there in the summer
Where my heart is full and my soul is calm
And my love is strong and real
Outro:
Oh, the green fields of England
Oh, the green fields of England
Oh, the green fields of England
Oh, the green fields of England
So here we are another song about something I do love, and that is the Green fields of England
The fields in early May on a blue sky day, have a color that I have in my travels never seen anywhere else in the world, hence this song about them.
I don't think I have captured that joy and experience of the fields and the green color that they are, perhaps I will have another go at this song to try and get that feeling.
If I do, it will be published on here as version two.
