Just filled my car up and £69 later my car has a range of 433 miles, I still have trouble understanding why we pay so much for our fuel in this country and why we let our government put so much tax on it.
I am told that out of the 133 a litre that we are getting charged for it that about 80 percent of it is made up of taxes!
I am also told that there is no shortage of oil in the world and that there will not be for some time to come, as we are better at extracting it from the ground and that we make far better use of it than we ever did before, and as time goes by we will continue to make better use of it.
So why the very high taxes on it?
I was going to say because Thayer can, and they can as there is not yet any other way of powering car and truck that is so easy and convenient at this time.
I suppose that you could argue that because of the high cost of fuel people will start to look for other ways of powering cars and trucks.
The downside of this is that once we have a new fuel source that is easy to use and that we start to use it, the government will then start to tax it, then tax it more and more and we will be back to where we started with petrol!
